MNL48 officially battles with Kapamilya actress Maris Racal, Janine Berdin, and Angeline Quinto with Kritiko, on the last week of Himig Handog 2018 competition on October 21 live on ABS-CBN’s longestrunning Sunday musical-variety show, ASAP.
Maris, Janine, Angeline with Kritiko, and MNL48 members together with former contestants of ABSCBN’s Your Face Sounds Familiar Sheena Belarmino and Krystal Brimmer wowed the audience while singing their pieces “Sugarol”, “Mas Mabuti Pa”, “Kababata”, and “Dalawang Pag-ibig Niya” live on the ASAP stage.
MNL48 Center Girl Sheki felt overwhelmed that they were chosen to interpret the song considering that many people are dreaming to become part of the competition.
Although it was a bit surprising for Sheki that she was chosen to do the rap part in their song, she shared that it was a dream come true and hopes to further enhance her newly-discovered talent.
Moreover, the girls believe that they were able to give meaning to Bernard Reforsado’s “Dalawang Pagibig Niya” on their performance since it is about teenage love and admiration.
Himig Handog 2018 grand winner will be determined by panel of judges such as the country’s pop rock superstar Ms. Yeng Constantino, World class singer Mr. Jed Madela, one of the most in-demand DJs of MOR 101.9 DJ Toni, Multi-awarded song writer and producer Mr. Jungee Marcelo, and ASAP’s very own creative manager Mr. Dido Camara.
The 9th Himig Handog, with a theme “Love Songs and Love Stories”, also include other interpreters namely Eumee for “Hati Na Lang Tayo Sakanya”, BoybandPH for “Para Sa Tabi”, JM de Guzman for “Sa Mga Bituin Na Lang Ibubulong”, Jonalyn Viray for “Tinatapos Ko Na”, Agsunta for “Wakasan”, and Sam Mangubat for “Wala Kang Alam”.
Himig Handog is a multimedia OPM song writing competition where every year, thousands of composers around the country send their entries to Star Music, ABS-CBN’s recording company. Chosen entries will be sung by selected Kapamilya singers and artists.

Hallo Hallo Alliance together with MNL48 gives back through an outreach program in Tarlac
“Hallo Hallo Alliance extends its deepest sympathy and prayers to all the victims of Typhoon Ompong. We hope that our simple gesture of helping the Camiling community will ease the devastating aftermath that Ompong has brought to the families.”
Last September 23, 2018, Hallo Hallo Alliance together with MNL48 members Belle, Jan, Kay, Brei, Lei, Coleen, and Rans visited the victims of Typhoon Ompong at Camiling Sports Complex in Tarlac to hand relief goods as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.
With the assistance of Municipality of Camiling Mayor Erlon Clemente Agustin, MNL48 members and Hallo Hallo Alliance staff personally distributed donations from the employees and relief goods they packed for the residents as a way of helping the victims survive while recovering from the calamity.
Having a soft heart for the elderly and people in need, Team L member Lei Lacumba shared that she’s still very eager to join her co-members in Tarlac despite having flu.
Rikka Kiriena La Morena Andres who has been working as the Municipal Social Welfare Development Officer in Camiling for over three years described the people in their town as resilient.
“During the calamity, makikita mo kung pano ‘yung paghihirap nila kasi ang taas ng water level dito sa amin kahit flash flood lang, kaya lang ‘yung biglaang dating ng tubig. Naka-evacuate sila agad sa mga designated areas namin,” she recalled.
Andres also expressed her sincerest gratitude to Hallo Hallo Alliance family for their compassion for the victims and their effort to reach out to Camiling community.
An 85-year-old woman, from Poblacion D in Tarlac, Arsenia Domingo who also lined up to get some relief goods, narrated how the flash flood caused by the Typhoon destroyed their home and reached up to thesecond floor. Although they wanted to relocate to a safer place, they don’t have the financial capacity.
As soon as Hallo Hallo Alliance knew about the disaster, the company with the help of its employees reached out to the municipalities which are badly hit by the typhoon to send help. The company has chosen the community of Tarlac to be the beneficiary of the relief goods and donations gathered from the employees.
